Missed a day...or two

I'm such a blog slacker. I had a crazy busy weekend and didn't get any inspiration yesterday so I didn't post a thing. But I'm back.

I wanted to share a few pictures of the mobile I made for the baby shower.

The second picture is a little easier to see. What I did was make 7 different size "kissing" balls (directions to follow) then placed a ribbon through the middle of each. Then I had my handy husband cut a peice of wood into 3 identical peices and drill holes in the ends of each and through the middle of each. I then painted the wood yellow. Then I laced the ribbon of the biggest kissing ball through the middle holes and the ribbon of the smaller balls through the outer holes. Anyone confused yet?

I think it turned out pretty great. My friend liked it so that is all that mattered. Her nursery is light blue and she is using greens, oranges and yellows as accents. I think the room will look great.

Here is how to make the kissing balls.

Cut 20 identical circles (I used cookie cutters to trace the circles and cut them by hand)

Trace a perfect triangle on the back

Fold the three sides of the triangle away from the back

Glue 5 of the edges of the circles together so it creates a circle.

Turn the large circle you just created so you can see only 2 of the edges. Glue 3 more circles to this edge forming another circle. Continue until all 20 circles are glue together forming a perfect ball. Each "side" of the circle will have 5 little circles in it.

Does that make any sense? If you really want to make them and these directions don't help let me know and I'll try to get someone to video me making one so you can see.

I heard it was a great shower. What a good, (amazing in my opinion) friend you are! The mobile is absolutely adorable..how sweet for you to make that by hand. It doesn't surprise me, though. You are one of the most thoughtful, sacrificing people I know when it comes to your friends.
