Wooden or plastic?

I know I've been MIA for a few days, Easter we traveled and yesterday I took the boys I nanny to Baltimore for the day. Sorry for the absence. The other day I had a conversation with some friends about which is better wooden spoons or plastic (I know you are astounded by how exciting my life is). There was no finally answer, guess it's a personal preference. But I did find a great wooden spoon site for those who are of the wooden spoon persuasion. Check out Allegheny Greenware

I love having options when it comes to measuring cups and spoons. These have a long handle and would be great for getting the bottom of the canister.

Pretty for serving salad and they hang.

Regardless of your love for metal, plastic or wood, you have to admit these are beautiful

Easter

Easter is only a few days away now. Are you coloring eggs this year? If you are you should stop by Martha Stewart for some really pretty ideas. Try something new this year. There are how-to's for all of these and 34 others.

Glittered eggs are so pretty. And I Martha Stewart does sell some of the greatest glitter I've ever used. It is super fine and would be perfect for this craft. It is sold on line and at AC Moore

I love the colors of these eggs. The idea of monochromatic or using only 2 colors is so appealing to me. All they did was wrap some inexpensive lace around the egg before dyeing them. Isn't the result beautiful?

Jack and Izzy

Glassworks

I stumbled upon a site the other day called Clio. I love their glass and would like to add some of it to my collection. You can actually register with them. They also have some linens, flatwear and lighting.

I love white dinner plates (mine are green or clear) and would love to some day have all white plates (my bowls already are white). I like the way it shows off the food. These are the perfect plates. I like that they are not delicate and have a small point of interest (the word)

Yummy mugs. I love how bright and festive they are.


The little bees on the glasses and pitcher are so cute. Makes me think of lemonade on a hot day.

Told you they had lamps. I couldn't resist posting this one. Isn't it pretty?!

This weekend

Friday night was First Friday here in Lancaster, Pa. All the art galleries stay open late and new art displays go up. It is a very fun time to walk around the city and see some great art and run into people. One of the newer stores that I enjoyed very much was the Lancaster Yarn Shop. I got to meet on of my favorite Etsy yarn makers and see some of her work in person. I loved the yarn even more after I saw it. Rachel-Marie was so nice and I really enjoyed chatting with her and my friend CDB and I ended up with our picture on her blog. Funny. If you are looking for some beautiful yarn, look no further. They are planning on having some classes starting soon so if you are looking to learn more about knitting take a look here first.




I want scarves made of all of these yarns. Too bad I am the slowest knitter and that might take me 5 years.

Display

I love to bake cakes. Actually, I just love to bake. But cakes are really fun and I think they are even more so when you have a great way display them, like a cake stand. I have 2 and they make the cakes looks so grand, even if it's just a box cake (which I love by the way) it suddenly looks like a party. Here are a few of my new favorites.

Every great cake baker needs a turntable to get the perfect icing. I like the cast iron one from Martha Stewart

If you are not going to be eating the whole cake in one evening or if you have to travel with the cake a domed option like this one from Sur La Table is a good idea
Ebay is also a great place to find antique options.

Recycled

I try to help the planet as much as I can. Not to say I'm perfect or I don't forget to recycle once in a while, but I'm trying hard to be conscious. I also LOVE pretty ways to recycle or I guess it's upcycle. YAVA Glass does just that making old bottles into pretty glasses. This is some glass even my hubby would appreciate.
